Creating a New Web Page

Learn how to create a new web page.

Only web pages of type home or folder can contain child web pages. Therefore, the New Page hyperlink is only visible in the control panel when the active web page is of type home or folder. This hyperlink is not visible when the active web page is of type document.

Click the New Page hyperlink to start the process of creating a new web page, which will become a child web page of the currently active web page. You will be taken to an administration page that will let you create the new web page.

To create a new web page, you must specify the type of the new web page (home, folder or document). Optionally, you may select some content to appear in the main area of this new web page. Available element types are form, HTML and poll as these three element types are the element types that are most commonly used in the main area of a web page. However, you need not select any of these element types as elements can be added to a web page at any point in the future. When you are ready to create your new web page, click the OK button. If you subsequently decide you do not want to create a new web page, click the Cancel button to return to the previous page.

After you click the OK button to create a new web page, you will be taken to your new web page. Although you can see your new web page, the new web page will not be visible to the general public or any other administrators until you hit the Commit Changes button in the control panel. If at any point you are not happy with your new web page, hit the Lose Changes button to discard the new web page.

Various default settings are automatically applied to your new web page. To change these default settings, click the Edit Page hyperlink in the control panel. When these default settings have been updated, you may want to add elements to zones that make up your new web page (typically you will add content to the main zone) or override existing zone content. This is achieved by clicking the relevant zone hyperlink (labelled Add or Override).

When you are happy with your new web page, hit the Commit Changes button in the control panel to make the new web page live. Click the Lose Changes button to discard the new web page.
