A forum element
A typical forum element.

Users can create and edit their posts by clicking on the appropriate hyperlinks within a forum element. However, website administrators can edit any forum post.

In message posts, text strings such as :) and :( are automatically replaced with small corresponding images known as smilies or emoticons. A list of standard smilies is shown below.

It is possible to format a message post by inserting tags into the message text. The following tags are supported:

Note: The target attribute is used to detemine where the target URL is opened. Use _blank to open the target URL in a new window  and _self to open the target URL in the same window it was clicked. The target attribute can be ommitted, in which case a default value of _blank is used.

Note: The only mandatory attribute is the src attribute, which is used to specify the location of the image to display. The alt attribute is used to specify a short description of the image, while the width and height attributes tell the web browser the width and height that should be used when displaying the image.

When in administration mode, click the Edit hyperlink above a forum to update it. Only the two fields that are common to all element types can be updated: Element Title and Display Title.

Finally, when you have finished updating a forum element, click the OK button to return to the previous page. You should not use your browser's back button.
