Riverside Internet

Email

This page describes two methods for accessing your Riverside Internet hosted email. The first approach, webmail, provides access to your email through a web browser. The second approach describes how third party email clients such as Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird can be used to access your email.

Accessing your email via webmail

Your email can be accessed via a web browser by opening the page http://mail.yourdomain.com:8383. When prompted, enter your email address in the username field, your password in the password field and click the login button. Once you have successfully logged on, you will be taken to a web page where you will be able read and send emails. The Webmail interface behaves in a similar way to MSN Hotmail or Yahoo! Mail. If you have any problems using the Webmail interface, click on the Help icon in the top right hand corner of every Webmail page.

Accessing your email via a third party email client

Popular third party email clients include Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Outlook Express and Mozilla Thunderbird. You will need to know the following information when setting up your third party email client:

  • Your incoming POP3 and outgoing SMTP mail servers. These should both be set to mail.yourdomain.com. You should also turn on SMTP authentication.
  • Your username or account name. This is your full e-mail address. For example, yourname@yourdomain.com.
  • Your password. This should have been given to you by Riverside Internet and is case sensitive. If you have forgotten your password, please contact Riverside Internet.

You can find out more about specific third party email clients by following the links below. For each email client, the procedure for setting up an email account is described. This procedure can be repeated as required to setup multiple email addresses.

Troubleshooting problems

Are you unable to connect, send, or receive email through your third party email client?

You should verify that your email is setup correctly by logging on to the webmail client. If you can login to webmail, this proves that your email address is properly setup on Riverside Internet's mail server and the problem is with your third party email client settings.

Does your email client prompt you for a password when you try to send or receive email?

You should check that you have entered your password correctly and that you have added @yourdomain.com to the end of your username or account name.

Are you receiving emails, but having problems sending emails?

If you can receive emails, but can't send emails, then this is most likely because your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is blocking access to your outgoing SMTP server (mail.yourdomain.com). You should contact your ISP and ask them what outgoing SMTP server you should use to send emails.
